Mr.
Hungry!
Bill came down to the basement to check on my progress as I bathed our new dog. Bill culd see how sweet the little beagle was, and when I suggested that "We could keep him", Bill agreed without hesitation! (Bill is a real animal lover, and animals love him too. Whenever we meet animals for the first time, they immediately go to him first!) |
| Just as we had done when we adopted Ollie, our mixed terrier, we decided to keep our new rescued pet separate from our other dogs until his vet visit the next day, so I sat on the basement floor to play with him and become acquainted. There was a large plastic jar with treat bones handy, so I grabbed it to offer him some food. The beagle ate greedily, but I didn't want him to eat too much too fast, so after a few bones I went back into the laundry room to put things away. The beagle had other plans! |
| Suddenly I heard the loud dull thunking of a plastic container being banged against the floor. I rushed back into the room and I found the little guy with his head stuck in the jar! It was not tight at all, but I was horrified as I carefully pulled the jar off of the little dog's head because I was sure that this had terrified the poor pup! I was certain that he needed to be comforted, so I sat on the floor to pet and hug him but he actually pulled away and went right back to the jar getting his head stuck again! This time I was laughing so hard Bill heard me and came running down the steps. After I told him the story I said, "We could call him Snoopy", a name that apparently makes a lot of sense for a beagle's personality! The famous cartoon dog had always been our favorite, and now we had a Snoopy of our own! Next: Snoopy's
