Snoopy relaxes on the sofa

Snoopy stretches in the garden.

Snoopy's New Digs:
Our new dog, Snoo had to spend several days at the animal hospital to recover from his ordeal. His paws were swollen from so much walking, he was underweight, infested with internal parasites, and though he was about a year old, he had never been neutered. On his first full day home, I decided to lie down with him on the sofa to take a nap. As I cuddled him close, he squirmed until he faced me, buried his head under my face, put his nose on my neck, and went to sleep. After a moment, he began to snore! I couldn't believe how darling and how loving he was! I later found out that beagles are usually very affectionate, but other traits that they seem to share are not as endearing!

An Escape Artist!:
He is also very smart. His first summer with us didn't go smoothly. When we were away on a short trip, our neighbor took on the pet-sitting duties. Because he was spending a lot more time in the yard, the beagle found that he could dig out. He also discovered that digging out got him a lot of attention; and it was great fun, too! After many months of trying to figure ways to keep him in the yard, we finally bought more than 600 feet of heavy-gauge wire fencing and dug a trench along the entire perimeter of our yard. As we dug and buried fencing and stapled the top edge to the wooden pickets, the dog watched with casual interest. Once we were finished, he knew that it was futile to dig any longer, and after that, he never tried to dig out again! Ironically, just the year before, we had replaced our wire-lined post-and-rail fence with a five-foot high, picket style fence, just to keep Ollie from jumping out!

Most dogs would kill to get into the situation that these two enjoy! Bill has always called our home "Puppy Paradise"! They are treated like royalty, they want for nothing, and if they even look at me funny, I take them straight to the vet! Still, they are the joy of our lives, and I think that when you look at their pictures you can see how much they are adored.
