What Can We Do About the Illegal and Barbaric Practice of Dog Fighting as Sport?

We at Dogonfunny are naturally outraged and disgusted by anyone who would commit cruelty toward any animal! We are on a number of animal welfare E-mail lists and, as a result, we are usually notified whenever an extremely urgent call goes out to all animals lovers to help fight unfair laws and practices. By using our power as voters and as consumers we can effect change together! With the recent scandal over Michael Vick's involvement with dog fighting, the Humane Society of the United States, PETA, and other groups gave us an easy way to voice our concerns and opinions on this matter to legislators, the NFL, Nike and others by providing petitions that could be easily edited to reflect our own thoughts and feelings. If you care deeply about animal protection, please go to the web sites of these organizations and consider signing up for alerts. You don't have to act on every issue, but at least you will be able champion the causes with which you agree! | Well, just as many of you, we are quite upset and worried about the health and safety of our pets due to the ongoing pet food recalls. We wanted to know what our newsletter subscribers think and feel, and what they are doing about feeding these precious members of their families. Below are some responses. I am horrified about the current pet food scandal and I am disgusted that American manufacturers in the food industry purchased supplies from companies in countries that have virtually no health safety guidelines. It is widely known that China allows most food processing practices to go totally unchecked, so shame on the companies that willingly sought these out and purchased products from them. I am certain it added dollars to the bottom line, all at the expense of the health and well-being of their customers. So despite their announced concern for our companion animals health and safety - I say actions speak louder than words.
I am currently transitioning my three cats to 'Wellness', produced by Old Mother Hubbard, Massachusetts.
I am hopeful that I will find that this company's mission and philosophy coincides with mine.
My focus is now on where the pet food ingredients are sourced from. If they are sourced from locations that share the U.S. food safety guidelines, I believe we will be okay.

| I have been using Kirkland Kibble and preparing homemade dinners for my pack
of furry friends. Have decided to drop the kibble and just make all my dog's food
even if they are not perfectly balanced I will do my very best to feed healthy
food. I feed them twice a day so they really never get empty ( I hope).
I love them sooo much that I do not complain how much time it takes now and
how much more money we spend Ex: chicken breasts /ground turkey etc.
I hope they stay healthy and have less vet visits (which are costly) My pack
is made up of 8 rescue dogs...
