Soul Dog is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization run by dedicated volunteers with a mission to "spay/neuter and protect animals". They serve the Four Corners region which includes parts of Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. Poverty is very prevalent in this area and there are also many strays. Spay & neuter plus caring for other medical needs has been a large part of what they do, but they also work to place animals in loving homes. has made a huge difference in the lives of animals. Our dog Patch is pictured here only because we rescued her personally while driving to New Mexico from Arizona. Blue Heeler, or "cattle-dog" strays are seen very frequently in the southwest. She is one of the sweetest dogs ever. |
There are organizations with the stated mission to rescue dogs from puppy mills, but all of those organizations are not created equal. It has come to light in recent years that some "puppy mill rescue groups" are actually buying puppy mill dogs at auctions directly from puppy mill breeders and paying exorbitant prices to do so. We have done extensive research on this situation and until we are confident that the organization that we link to does NOT do this, we will not post a link. Please bear with us until we find an organization that we can refer you to.

This is Cassidy, a tri-paw rescued by Cathi and the sanctuary where she works - the very large and well-known Best Friends Animal Society. Dogs with missing legs often have great mobilty.
Our very own Patch, (story above), has been a tri-paw since we rescued her when she was only 6-8 weeks old. Nothing about her behavior indicates that she is physically limited. She runs like the wind and plays fetch with ease! |
Animal Rescue, Inc is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit which was founded in 1976 by Grace Froelich because she faced the sad prospect of having to give up her beloved cat because of restrictions in the housing that she could afford at the time. Instead of making that choice, she found a new place in southern Pennsylvania where she, her pets and eventually other homeless pets could count on as a home. Please visit them at http://www.animalrescueinc.org Corbin and Sam were adopted from this rescue.
