Every pet has a part of their personality that seems to truly define their character. Snoopy was a clown through and through. We found him wandering on a rural road late one cold February evening. He was limping badly and seemed frightened, but he came to us with a bit of coaxing. He had no tags or collar and he obviously needed help, so we put him into the car thinking we could find him a good home. Once in the warmth of our vehicle, the fact that he had been rolling in manure became quite apparent, so the first order of business would be to give him a bath! In our laundry sink he looked so small and vulnerable, and I wondered how long he had been fending for himself. As I bathed him, he was cooperative and sweet, and of course, I began to fall in love with him. Bill joined me in drying the little beagle and at my suggestion, we both decided to keep him. Then, it was time to give him some food, but first a treat. Immediately Snoopy took matters into his own paws and stuck his head right into the big plastic jar of bones. Yes - stuck - literally. I easily pulled the jar off of his head, but, being a beagle, he stuck his head in again! How could we not keep him and how could we not name him Snoopy ?
